Ashtanga Yoga’s not a religion, it’s an entire method or set of guidelines for living well

Ashtanga Yoga has been a passion of mine since I was in my early teens.

From my first Hatha class at 14, to Hatha teacher training with Peter Nilsson at the Auckland Yoga Academy at 23, to finishing my Ashtanga Yoga teacher training with Jude Hynes in my late thirties, yoga has literally saved my life.

I’ve come full circle now. From deep, almost fanatic and blind adherence to the yogic lifestyle, to furthering my studies in neuroscience, currently in psychotherapy and seeing the science behind the Ashtanga yoga method.

Now I sit comfortably with my yoga practice and ask my students to experiment with what works for them, their lifestyles and their values. Not to blindly follow another’s method.

This is my passion and underpins everything I do.
